Slot Loevestein presents summer full of culture, taste and film experiences

This summer, Slot Loevestein once again forms the backdrop for special cultural evenings and culinary encounters. With an atmospheric Delta concert, a unique summer lunch by the Taste Museum and the popular film evenings, Loevestein offers visitors three special ways to experience the centuries-old castle and fortress in a new way.

Musical summer evening during Delta concert
On Thursday 9 July, the tournament field of Slot Loevestein will turn into an open-air concert venue during the Delta Concert with the Nymphéas Trombone Quartet and singer Sterre Konijn. The quartet, consisting of musicians from leading Dutch orchestras, together with Sterre Konijn, will perform a programme full of impressionistic sounds, new music and poetic singing. The historic surroundings of the castle and the surrounding river landscape create a special ambiance.

Film evenings at a unique location
The much-loved film evenings also return to Loevestein this summer. On 3, 4 and 5 September, the fortress of Slot Loevestein will transform into an intimate outdoor cinema. As the sun slowly sets and the castle is atmospherically illuminated, take a seat on the tournament field. The place where knights once fought becomes a the place to watch impressive films these evenings, under a vast starry sky. In cooperation with the International Film Festival Gorinchem (IFFG), impressive films will be shown, which will enter and linger. Stories that touch, chafe and make you think.

Tasting forgotten flavours during Taste Museum Summer Lunch
On 13 September, Slot Loevestein and Creative Chef Studio will join forces for a special culinary experience: the Taste Museum Summer Lunch. Expect an edible exhibition at your table, including a presentation and food performance by Creative Chef and artist Jasper Udink ten Cate. Get to know forgotten vegetables and old plant varieties from the Taste Museum's kitchen garden. Think historic carrot varieties, special beets and rare cucumber varieties. Alongside a multi-course lunch, guests will be taken through stories about food, nature and history, matching the exhibitions at Loevestein. Lunch will end with a bag of seeds to encourage biodiversity in your own garden.
