Event: ‘The Relevance of Hannah Arendt’.

On Saturday 27 June, the Humanist Association is organising a meeting at the Bank van Noppes on Hannah Arendt.
Last year, at the request of the Humanist Association, Joop Berding also led a meeting on Hannah Arendt. Berding regularly gives lectures on the work of Hannah Arendt; he has also written five books and a considerable number of essays and book chapters on Arendt. At the previous gathering, the lecture centred on totalitarianism and the Holocaust. This time, the focus will be on ‘The relevance of Hannah Arendt’ as seen through her literary work. What would Hannah Arendt make of the current political and social climate? We cannot get an answer to that question, as she died in 1975, but perhaps this meeting can give us some idea of what that might be.

We will not receive a direct answer to this, as she passed away in 1975, but perhaps this meeting can offer some insight into what her views might have been.
The meeting will take place at the Bank van Noppes, Zusterstraat 19 in Gorinchem, from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Attendance, including coffee and/or tea, is free of charge; a voluntary contribution towards the cost of coffee and/or tea would be much appreciated.
