Gorinchem Beer Tour

After decades of absence, we’re breathing new leven into something that hasn’t been organised since the 1980s. We’ve searched the archives but, unfortunately, couldn’t find any reliable information; however, it seems that a ‘bokbier tour’ took place in our beautiful town centre some 40 years ago, though we haven’t been able to find out any more than that from the stories we’ve heard. So it’s high time to make history ourselves, and that’s exactly what we’re setting out to do. On 4 October, we’ll be gearing up for the Gorinchem Bokbier Tour, a beer-filled walk past eight participating venues where you can immerse yourself in the world of autumn beer: bokbier!

The fact that it’s being organised on 4 October is, of course, no coincidence; according to old Dutch custom, bock beer may only be served from the first week of October onwards, so we’re keen to uphold this tradition. Bock beer, of course, has a rich Dutch tradition in its own right, because although it is originally a German brew, it has been embraced by Dutch brewers and drinkers for centuries.
