Fortified towns route Zuid-Holland

The route in South Holland leads to the beginning of the independence of the Netherlands, the Eighty Years' War in 1572. So you can experience how the various fortified towns were connected and involved in this.

The route is divided into two stages. The first stage goes from Gouda to Woudrichem, the second stage starts in Dordrecht and ends in Brielle. The introductory stories to the stages and the descriptions to the sights together tell the overarching story of our beautiful heritage gems.
