Arendt expert Joop Berding will give a lecture in which he explains how her own experiences shaped Arendt. She experienced the rise of 20th-century anti-Semitism first-hand. Arendt fled to the US, where, as a displaced person, she had to build a new leven . In her books, she attempts to make sense of her own experiences and those of her fellow sufferers: what happened, how did it come to this, and could it happen again?
