Leerdam breathes a rich history of glass and this can still be clearly seen in the city. On Lingedijk is the centuries-old crystal factory, where the footsteps of great designers such as Copier, Meydam and Lanooy lie. A short distance from the factory is the Nationaal Glasmuseum, which once originated as a company museum and is now the glass treasure trove of the Netherlands! Changing exhibitions show what is possible with glass, and in the four walkways between the two museum villas, the entire collection is on permanent display.

Unique to the Nationaal Glasmuseum Museum is its own glassworks, located in an old timber shed near the marina. Here you can experience the craft up close six days a week.
