Beggars and martyrs route
In 1572, the Netherlands freed itself from Spanish rule. In 2022, we commemorated the 'birth of the Netherlands' and the martyrs who lost their leven in the process.
Now you can do the Beggars and Martyrs Route and learn more about these historical events. During the cycle route, you will pass the beautiful river Merwede and cycle past lovely towns and villages such as Leerdam, Noordeloos and Boven- Hardinxveld. Places with many historical stories.
