Avelingenroute
The Avelingenroute is a 14 km walk through buitendijks natuurgebied De Avelingen between Hardinxveld-Giessendam and Gorinchem. The area is owned by the Forestry Commission. The tidal movement has created a nature reserve here with reed and hay meadows, willows and open water. Nice to stroll through. But beware: at high tide, the floodplain floods and the area is not accessible.

Dogs are not allowed between nodes 34 and 19. If you want to walk with your dog, you can also start at 19. There is a small car park there for about 10 cars.
Part of the route goes along unpaved paths and can be very swampy in wet weather. In that case, bring boots or good waterproof walking shoes.
